Beans - Tired Snow EP CD (zum009)
Vancouver BC's The Beans bust forth with some of their country's best indie post-rock of late. They take improv sketches of profound beauty and simplicity into a realm that is distinctly theirs. Cohorts such as Godspeed You Black Emperor! and Do Make Say Think work in similar territory -- filmic and epic but also particularly Canadian. With a previous album on the Canadian Zulu label (affiliated with the legendary record store) and favorable reviews of their live performances, the "Tired Snow" EP is essential listening.
