"In 1998 I booked a small tour in Finland for a little-known Australian band someone referred to me. They changed my life. Not only did they absolutely destroy every tiny room they played in, their most recent album would not leave my discman for at least a year after that. Beacon of Hope is unique. It’s some of the most miserable, introverted, claustrophobic and cathartic music ever recorded. It’s also joyous, expressive and vivid in ways words can’t reach. It’s an explosion of color, in grayscale. The fact that it never got discovered by the hordes just adds to its appeal. It’s my little secret.
